Welcome Back | New Mobile App | Employees of the Month | MHS Day of Service | and more...
Dear Milton Town School District Community,
It is with great enthusiasm that I welcome you to the first edition of our district’s online newsletter. Each month, this publication will provide you with a glimpse of the dynamic teaching, learning and growth that occur across our schools, while also highlighting some of the accomplishments of our students, faculty, and staff.
Within this newsletter, you will find not only updates on events and initiatives that shape our district, but also features that celebrate individual and collective achievements, from honoring our Employee of the Month to spotlighting the creativity and resilience of our learners. My hope is that this newsletter provides you with both information and inspiration as you engage with the MTSD
While the format is digital, the spirit is deeply human. Education is a relational endeavor, and this monthly publication is just one way to strengthen the school - community partnership. I encourage you to read, share, and reach out with questions or comments.
Thank you for being a vital part of the MTSD community. Together, we continue the important work of preparing our students to thrive, pursue their passions and contribute dynamically to an ever changing world.
Amy Rex
Superintendent, Milton Town School District
Students kicked off the year with an opening assembly, and classrooms are ready to be filled with energy, curiosity, and new ideas. Here’s to a great year ahead! #MiltonMiddle #BackToSchool
The gym was abuzz as MES welcomed students to the 2025 - 2026 school year! The first assembly of the year focused on belonging and how we can work together to make sure all students feel like they belong at MES. We also had a visit from two of our fabulous bus drivers as we reviewed bus riding expectations and launched our bus of the month program.
Milton High School held its annual convocation, a tradition where the graduating class challenges all students to make the year an amazing one. Seniors encouraged their peers to go above and beyond, stand out as Yellowjackets, and take pride in being part of the MHS community.
Join us on Thursday, September 18, for a special MTSD Community Dinner and Activities Fair, hosted by the Milton PTA.
5:00-7:00 PM - Community Dinner
5:30-7:30 PM - Activities Fair
Location: Milton High School Cafeteria & Gymnasium
You may have noticed some exciting changes this spring—Milton Town School District has a brand-new website! Along with it, we’re introducing a mobile app designed to make it easier than ever to stay connected. From following sports and school events to receiving important announcements, everything you need is right at your fingertips.
The app also includes translation features, so you can view updates in the language of your choice. Downloading is simple—just use the links below to get started and stay connected with MTSD wherever you are.
At Milton Elementary, we’re proud of the way our students represent our school—not just in the classroom, but everywhere they go. That includes the bus ride to and from school, where showing respect, kindness, and responsibility makes a big difference.
To celebrate students who go above and beyond in demonstrating positive bus etiquette, we’ve introduced our new “Bus of the Month” recognition. Each month, one bus will be chosen for having the best overall behavior. The winning bus will be celebrated with a special announcement and receive a magnetic sign to display proudly.
This is more than just a prize—it’s a way to highlight the importance of respecting each other, taking care of our space, and helping everyone feel safe and welcome. We’re excited to see our students show their Yellowjacket pride on the bus as well as in school!
September Employee of the Month: Celebrating Our Facilities Team
This September, we are excited to roll out a new recognition program highlighting outstanding employees across different departments each month. Our inaugural focus is on our Facilities Team—an essential group that keeps our schools safe, functional, and welcoming every day.
Congratulations to our September School Board Employee of the Month winners:
Tyler Flynn – Milton High School
Tyler is known for quietly delivering excellence in everything he does. From his daily maintenance responsibilities to stepping in for special projects, he consistently goes above and beyond. Tyler has assisted with moving furniture, supporting contractors, clearing snow, and maintaining our athletic fields—all with professionalism, a friendly attitude, and a commitment to teamwork. His dedication and leadership make him a true asset to our district.
Pam Ballard – Milton Middle School
Pam brings joy, leadership, and dedication to her role every day. She consistently checks in with staff and students, ensuring the school environment is safe, welcoming, and well-maintained. Known for her kindness, humor, and high standards, Pam goes above and beyond in supporting her team and the Milton community. Her hard work and positive attitude make a lasting impact on everyone around her.
Lonnie Terry – Milton Elementary School
Lonnie is a tireless worker and a familiar, friendly presence throughout MES. Often handling responsibilities alone, he ensures both the Elementary and Middle Schools are clean, safe, and well-maintained. From routine tasks to unexpected challenges, Lonnie approaches every job with a smile and a can-do attitude. His dedication, kindness, and humor brighten the days of students and staff alike, making him an indispensable member of our school community.
We are grateful for Tyler, Pam, and Lonnie’s dedication and hard work. Their commitment to excellence exemplifies the spirit of service that keeps our schools running smoothly. Please join us in congratulating them on this well-deserved recognition!
Milton High School students embraced the spirit of giving back during the annual Day of Service, held in remembrance of those lost on September 11, 2001. In honoring their memory, students dedicated the morning to meaningful projects across the community, from caring for local cemeteries to supporting the grounds at Camp Takumta, demonstrating both respect and a commitment to service.
